Holiday Party

A huge THANK YOU to all who made this years fund drive our most successful one so far! Christmas donations totaled $3, 557. We purchased gifts totaling $2,950. The balance, along with continuing donations will be used to continue our work throughout the year as other needs become identified. We received an additional $140 in donations in January to add to this amount giving us a starting fund of $747 for the year 2005. Following is a list of what was purchased for the 2004 Holiday Season. For the “Baby House” we purchased a television and 5 radio/tape recorders. Besides entertainment, the tape recorders will also be used for speech development.

Savinski House 27" TV

A copier/printer was purchased for Dom Seminovskya to replace the one which was un-repairable. Among other things, this is used on a daily basis for lesson plans and worksheets for their school program. Dom Sovetsky received two standard size televisions for their 190 orphans. “Warm House” received two sofas, a print cartridge for their HP Printer and also 14 toothbrushes and a supply of toothpaste. As you can see, they struggle with providing just the basic necessities. Savinski Home for Crippled and Retarded Children received a 27 inch television, an Entertainment Shelf Unit and large Boom Box type entertainment center. We also purchased a small refrigerator. This is used in a dining area for children that have to be separated from the main area when they have communicable diseases.

Hope House Shelving

The Detsky Dom “Hope House” had recently had their kitchen closed because of inadequate and unsanitary storage shelving. They had to throw out all the old shelving and the children were being sent to local restaurants to be fed. We purchased the necessary industrial grade shelving and they have reopened their kitchen facilities. As mentioned, we will continue to stay in contact with the orphanages throughout the year and help in whatever way we can . This is totally dependant upon continuing donations. Any assistance, at any time, is greatly appreciated.
